Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country deeply regretted that the “lost ammunition” struck Gaza’s only Catholic Church, killing three people there.
“All the lost innocent life is a tragedy. We share the sorrow and faithful people.” He said in a statement.
The incident took place when the Israeli strike struck Gazi City’s holy family church. Jerusalem’s Latin patriarchal system was injured.
Pope Leo XVI renovated the demand for truce, and said, “I was deeply sad to learn about the loss of life and injury.”
In his statement, Netanahu said Israel said, “We are investigating this case and are trying to protect civilians and holy lands.”
On Thursday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said:
“IDFs make a strike only in military goals, make all feasible efforts to mitigate the damage to civilians and religious structures, and regret unintentional damage.”
At the beginning of that day, White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt said US President Donald Trump said there was no “positive response” in the church attack.
Trump called Netanyahu to discuss this case on Thursday morning. During the telephone, Netana Hu described this attack as “mistake”, and Leavitt quoted him in that word.
The patriarchal said that the parish priest, Gabriel Roman Nelly, was part of the injured people.
People said they found “sanctuary” in the church.
“War should be a complete end,” he added.
