How to hide your baby bump until you’re ready to share it!
I hid my pregnancy from the internet for 5 months before we made the big reveal! But from the bloating of the first trimester to the bumps that start to appear around week 16, it hasn’t been easy! Now, I love nothing more than a bodycon dress to show off the bits that stick out of the bag, but it can be really hard to find clothes that cover it all up until you’re ready to share the news with the world.
Here are our best tips on how to hide your baby bump with outfit ideas for every season!
How to Hide Your Baby Bump All Seasons

1. Layers
The first tip for hiding bumps is layers. They really are your best friend for taking your eyes off that area and distracting you from your protruding belly! This style works best in winter, fall and spring as summers can be a bit hot, but think loose t-shirts/tops, long cardigans, scarves, jumpers and coats that all move differently and are perfect distractions.

2. Pattern
Busy patterns are a great way to hide protrusions because they draw the eye away from the shape underneath. You are much less likely to see a boat with bold patterns around it than one with block colors. So, have fun and bring your wardrobe to life this way.

3. Darker colors
Dark colors, especially on the bottom, are a great way to slim down the look. Think high-waisted dark jeans/shorts, dark paper bag waist pants or skirts. Bonus points when paired with a busy patterned peplum or boxy top and multiple layers!

4. Skimming style
When thinking about how to hide your baby bump, shape is also important. Think baggy jumpers, loose t-shirts, peplum tops and fit and flare dresses. All of these tend to skim over the belly area rather than sticking to it and help hide more of it.

5. Boxy shape
Likewise, square shapes can be a great way to skim and hide protruding areas. Wear wide-legged bottoms and boxy tops to create a ‘half-curve’ shape and move in a straight line up and down. This styling is also trendy these days, so it’s a bonus! I’ve always thought I had to ‘flatter’ my curves, but these days I’m loving boxy styles. It can be so comfortable and yet so cool.

6. Blazers & Coats
Another way to hide what you’re not prepared for people to see is with blazers and coats. Again, layers are added to create a boxy appearance that draws the eye downward and away from the belly.

7. Frill
Ruffles are a huge distraction. Especially when paired with intricate prints! It creates movement that can distract the eye, blur the tummy, and create extra volume that helps even out outward bulges.

8. Tuck it in
And lastly, don’t forget the power of the front tuck! Especially when paired with a high waist, tucking in a jumper or top can make your tummy look smaller than it really is, and can take away any noticeable baby bump from your upper body!
