It emerged in May as an online satirical movement to protest document leaks and other irregularities in India’s top exams and has garnered a huge following on social media.
Protesters calling themselves cockroaches have been protesting for a month, and some members are also staging a hunger strike.
They are demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation after a key entrance exam for aspiring doctors was canceled in early May due to a document leak.
They say the minister must take moral responsibility and resign.
