Bluesky’s website and apps were still struggling on Thursday after COO Rose Wang experienced a service outage due to a denial-of-service attack.
According to the social network’s status page, the problems began around 2:42 a.m. ET on Thursday and have continued since then.

Currently, Bluesky sites and apps load slowly at times and display error messages at other times.
For example, when I switch to a specific feed within the app, I get the following message: “This feed is currently experiencing high traffic and is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Message from server: Rate limit exceeded.”
This happens with popular feeds like Discover or the official Bluesky team feed, but it can also run into your own personal feeds.
Other times, when you try to visit a user’s profile, the site displays an error message and requires you to refresh and try again.

“Oh, our service is getting pretty difficult tonight,” Bluesky protocol engineer Bryan Newbold said around 3:46 a.m. ET.
The company hasn’t officially shared what’s causing the slowdown, nor has it provided an estimated time for a fix.
Bluesky has not yet responded to a request for comment.
The service outage is affecting Bluesky, but other communities running their own infrastructure on the underlying protocol that powers the decentralized social network appear to be functioning for the time being.
