As coffee brands seek new avenues of growth and seek out younger consumers, a move into the refrigerated sector is a logical step. Beverage manufacturers are also likely to see iced coffee as another opportunity to keep consumers within their brands, as people don't always want hot drinks or their preferences change as they age.

Smucker isn't the only large CPG company exploring the iced coffee space for growth. Last May, Nestle introduced Nescafe Espresso Concentrate to appeal to cold coffee drinkers, just months after introducing its popular Coffee Mate creamer brand to iced coffee.
