This is the next big thing of AI. Some people define these “agents” differently from others, but the general idea is an AI drive tool that can autonomously perform tasks.
Agent hype has reached a fever, but one startup was relatively early games: llamainDex. Founded by Uber Researcher Jerry Liu and Simon Suo, 2023, the LLAMAINDEX allows developers to build custom agents through unhearded data.
LIU told Techcrunch, “LlamainDex started with an open source project in November 2022. “I understand how LLM (Lange Language Model) can use a large language model (LLM) on an exclusive data outside the training set, and has built an initial tool set so that developers can index and include data in the LLM app.”
By using the open source software of LLAMAINDEX, which has accumulated millions of downloads from GitHub, developers can extract information, generate reports and insights, and create a custom agent that can take specific measures. LLAMAINDEX provides data connectors and utility such as LLAMAPARSE to convert unstructured data into structural formats that can be used for specific AI applications.
LIU has another open source framework for building an AI agent, but LlamainDex is differentiated by data collection, data management and data indexing and search solutions, LIU said. Data and concepts of files such as PDF and PowerPoint presentations can be connected to this agent.
LIU said Salesforce, KPMG and Carlyle are one of the companies that use LLAMAINDEX today.
LIU said, “All these competitive solutions solve specific problems in various areas of the AI stack, but are the responsibility of the developer by collecting fragmented solutions to create a work agent. “This is an important pain that interferes with production of shipping agents. LLAMAINDEX has created our mission by providing the safest, accurate and easy -to -use platform for building end -to -end knowledge agents. ”
The next chapter of LLAMAINDEX is the enterprise service built on the company’s open source product. Customers, called LLAMACLOUD, can create cloud hosting agents that can work and manipulate unstructured data in various formats.
LLAMACLOUD can be distributed through software and service installation or virtual private cloud, and it can be provided with role -based access control and single sign -on, Liu.
LLAMAINDEX has raised $ 19 million in a series A funding round led by Norwest Venture Partners to support the development of LLAMACLOUD, and has also seen Greylock’s participation. The new cash collected the total financing of LlamainDex for $ 27.5 million, and LIU would be used to expand product development with 20 teams of LlamainDex.
LIU said, “We have enough runway to take us through the initial commercial expansion of the platform. “We are betting in the future where developers play a big role in providing Genai applications in the company.”
