I love lobster! When I'm not eating grilled lobster tails or lobster tacos, I usually enjoy lobster rolls all summer long. If you want to eat healthy, try the best lobster roll! It's similar to a Maine lobster roll, served with cold lobster meat topped with mayonnaise and crunchy vegetables like chives, celery, and/or chives. First, make it a little lighter by mixing fresh, steamed lobster with mayonnaise and Greek yogurt. If you don't have live lobster nearby, frozen tails, fresh lump crabs, and even shrimp are great options.
What is a lobster roll?
A lobster roll is a New England sandwich with lobster meat on a hot dog-style bun. Here on Long Island, you can find it two ways: cold or warm. Cold lobster rolls use cold lobster salad tossed with mayonnaise, celery, and other ingredients. Connecticut-style lobster rolls are served warm on split buns filled with warm cooked lobster meat drizzled with melted butter. Both are delicious, but the cold one is more popular.

- Lobster: You will need 8 ounces of cooked meat from about 2 lobster tails. Claw meat also works.
- Herb: I love using fresh summer leeks. There will be a wave effect.
- shallot and celery For a little crunch.
- Cream Ingredients: mix light mayonnaise and Nonfat Greek Yogurt For light clothing.
- Black pepper and lemon zest for flavor
- Sandwich Ingredients: Please add lobster meat hot dog buns and on top of that finely chopped lettuce and Tomato slices.
How to Cook Lobster
I live just a few miles from the ocean, so I'm lucky to have plenty of fresh seafood places nearby. I usually buy my lobsters from Jordan's Lobster Farm, where they conveniently steam them for me. However, if you are not lucky enough to steam yourself, there is a way to steam it yourself.
To cook a live 1¼ pound lobster:
- Add 3 inches of water to the pot and steam for 7 to 8 minutes. For larger lobsters, cook 1 to 2 minutes longer.
- Please cool down.
- Remove the meat from the skin, finely chop and transfer to a bowl.
To Cook Lobster TailsSteam for 5 to 8 minutes depending on size.
How to Make a Lobster Roll
Once the lobster meat is cooked, the rest comes together quickly.
- To make lobster salad: Cut the lobster into bite-sized pieces and mix with the rest of the ingredients.
- Sandwich Assembly: Top each roll with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and lobster mixture.
Tips and Variations
- Live or Frozen: If you can't find fresh steamed lobster, use frozen lobster tails instead.
- Lobster Claws: Frozen claw meat or knuckle meat are also great. Just thaw and steam for 3 minutes.
- Use crab or shrimp instead of lobster. Swap out the lobster for shrimp or crab meat.
- Make it low-carb: For a low-carb option, skip the bread and serve in lettuce cups.
- Skip the mayonnaise: People who don't like mayonnaise can replace it with Greek yogurt and lemon juice.

I prefer to eat seafood the day it is made, but leftover lobster can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
