Maro ITOJE Exclusive: Captain Lions, British and Ireland, Trailblazer, Wind-Up Merchaant and Married Man | Rugby Yonhap News

A few weeks have passed for Maro ITOJE.

After being nominated as Captain Lions, the British and Ireland, tie a knot with his wife Mimi will make it difficult to script a better summer if he leads the pack with a series victory in Australia.

In fact, it was quite a year, including his marriage and recent appointment, including the name of Saracen and the British captain. He is 30 years old and admits that it is a whirlwind.

“It was very important,” he said. “But when you pass it, you have no time to reflect it. I hope you can relax in the offseason.”

Our interview took place in a metaphor for renewal.

ITOJE has been changing image for the past few years and has cut off the growth since 2014.

Incomplete castle was a quotation that accompanied his cut social media posts.

“I don’t remember who I heard. You may be Will Smith.” “I just felt it was time. The end of the World Cup cycle. I thought it was time to start a new leaf.”

ITOJE is one of the stars of Rugby Union. Sitting on the other side of His side, you felt comfortable, but stood up and realized why he was afraid of the field.

Despite his representation of England, ITOJE, who is born and grows in northern London, has always vocated for his pride in his Nigerian heritage.

His promise as a captain of Lions was important. The first black man to maintain this position.

“It shows the growth of the game and shows where the game is going,” he said.

“There would not have been many blacks in 1980.

“If you look at the top 14 or Premier Ships, the number is increasing and the game is becoming more and more accessible.

“And we want rugby to grow, we want rugby to integrate themselves into different communities and all kinds of things, and it is happening, and we probably want to accelerate it and we want it.

“So that’s a big responsibility for myself. But most importantly, it’s not necessarily semantic theory. The most important thing is that the team wins and the team succeeds.”

‘I have prepared’ -Toje is leading Lions

It’s an amazing trip for anyone who hasn’t talked about rugby growing up at home. Of course it has changed now.

ITOJE is a five -premiere winner. Three winners of Six Nations. 2019 Rugby World Cup runner -up. His Lions Records were selected in New Zealand in 2017 and lost the 2-1 series in South Africa in 2021.

But nevertheless, have you been nervous?

“I am nervous!” He admitted. “I am nervous before all the matches, regardless of who we are.

“Saracens has played a match with the students in the championship for a year. I was still nervous.”

Publishers and students will be switched to people like Rob Valetini and Fraser Mcreight on July 19. ITOJE will lead to high nerves as ITOJE leads Lions for the first test.

“Obviously, the size of the game will be much higher than I did before, but I think I’m ready.

“I feel like I’m ready to play a role: I think I’m ready to prepare for work, and I get confidence from the quality of the coach we have, the quality of our support staff, and the quality of the number of people in the squad.

“Of course, I think you will be a little worried if you say that I was not nervous at all.”

ITOJE took Steve Borthwick, Brad Barrett, Owen Farrell, Billy and Mako Vunipola.

The ELEANOR ROPER of SKY SPORTS News talks about UK and Ireland Lions and ITOJE choice as a captain.

ITOJE said, “It is not necessarily about copying and pasting of everyone elsewhere through leadership, and I think everyone is a unique being and that my approach is to do it in a way that is consistent with my personality.

“I don’t think I started doing it (Saracens, England, and Lions Captain).

“Perhaps it was as if it was always like it would happen now, it was a natural progress, no one claimed about many of my career, and nothing was always clear now.

“But it’s just a blessing, and I am very honored to be in this position, and I am now this Lions tour.

‘The huge part of my life’ -Itoje in his journey of faith

The ITOJE ‘S, off the rugby, says that faith as a Christian is very important to him as well as his faith in his soccer team.

“My faith is a huge part of my life. I was always a Christian. I was baptized when I was young.”

“Anyway, anyway, I decided to double my faith and wanted to have a closer relationship with God, and I began to take action to try and achieve it, like all these things.

“It is getting deeper over time and I want to devote my life to him. And married man, so it is a blessing.”

His belief in Arsenal was tested last year, but North London shed tears in the harmful dormitory, recalling one of his early Arsenal memories of leaving the Champions League with Liverpool in 2008.

“Arsenal can’t make you cry anymore! This year was close. We had a lot of hope, but life and sports. Next year is our year!”

After his haircut, it was a photo time of ITOJE. His continuous partnership with Under Armour, a relationship that started in 2021, is what he says beyond the standard.

“Perhaps the difference between Under Armour and other companies or brands, or how much interest in athletes is, unlike the support they give me in the field and they come here, come here, and take a few photos.

“This is a treatment. It’s a 360 overall loan treatment. So it’s a great way to recover off -fields. I have the ability to talk with recovery experts, evaluated sleep and recovery protocols, and perhaps more overall in that sense.”
