Meta announced last week that it would be ditching its fact-checking feature in favor of X-like community notes, which it explained itself. “Leaker” Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot on Threads on Monday showing what the feature might look like.
Based on the screenshot, it appears that you can start the community note-taking process from the three-dot menu on the post. Here you can already access features like muting an account or reporting a post. Another screenshot shows that when you write a community note, the note is made anonymous.
The third screenshot shows the Instagram Help Center page for Community Notes with a button to sign up for the program’s waitlist. However, the layout of the page looks different from other live Help Center pages you can see.

Meta said last week that it plans to “phase in Community Notes first in the US over the coming months” and then “make improvements throughout the year,” but did not specify exactly when the feature would be available. On the thread. My colleague Alex Heath reported on Sunday that the community notes “were not part of the product roadmap before this week.”
In addition to the transition to Community Notes, Meta said it would remove “various restrictions” on topics such as immigration and gender and phase a “civic content” back to Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri posted a video today showing how to set the amount of political content you see in Threads.
