Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has announced a $200 million restoration of three of its Jamaican resorts. Following Hurricane Melissa last fall, Sandals Resorts International reopened five of its eight hotels in Jamaica in December, with Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast remaining closed pending evaluation.
Adam Stewart, president of Sandals Resorts International, sees scarcity in the closure. “While our doors were closed, we were given a true blank canvas that few in hospitality can have, and that clarity made all the difference. We spent time walking through the property, talking to the team and thinking about our guests. It became clear when it mattered: We cannot simply restore what was there. We must dream bigger. When we welcome our guests back, they will see the change and they will feel exactly why we have chosen to use this moment to create something worthy of their loyalty.”
The company has seized the opportunity to undertake a comprehensive transformation of the three resorts, which are scheduled to reopen in late 2026. Sandals South Coast in Whitehouse is scheduled to reopen on November 18, 2026. Additionally, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay are scheduled to reopen on December 18, 2026.
Reorganizing the resort will allow new moments of arrival to stand out. The resort will overlook the Caribbean Sea and will feature new accommodation categories. There will also be a newly designed swimming pool, refreshing lounges and social spaces. But Sandals has stayed true to its roots and will preserve the resort’s sense of place and unmistakable spirit.
Guests visiting Jamaica prior to reopening who wish to stay at a Sandals resort can choose from Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Duns River, Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril.
