Beaumont, who has made 260 appearances for her country since making her debut in 2009, retires as a centurion with 1200 ODI appearances for England Women.

England’s Tammy Beaumont is set to retire from international cricket after the Test against India at Lord’s.

Beaumont is one of only two British women (and five British players) to score an international hundred in all three formats of the game, and previously became the first British woman to score two Test centuries with a memorable 208 at Trent Bridge in the 2023 Women’s Ashes.

“It is my greatest honor to play for England for almost 17 years,” Beaumont said. “When I fell in love with the game of cricket as a child, little did I know that playing cricket for England was an option.

“It’s fantastic to think how many girls and boys have been inspired, especially this summer, and how far the game has developed in our country. “We’ve always wanted to do our best for the next generation and now the time has come to pass that privilege on to the next generation of England players.

“This Test match at Lord’s – the first women’s Test at Lord’s – feels like the perfect opportunity to cap off a career I never dreamed would be as special as it has been. I will still be playing domestic cricket but I want to thank all my fans for your incredible support.

“I’d also like to thank all the coaches and support staff I’ve worked with over the years, my teammates, friends and family with whom I’ve shared so many amazing moments. I couldn’t have gotten this far without your love and support over the years.”

Beaumont retires after ‘excellent international career’

The 35-year-old was one of the first players to sign an England Women’s central contract in 2015 and has been an integral part of the England squad across all three formats throughout her long career.

Clare Connor, England Women’s managing director, said: “Tammy (Beaumont) has made an incredible contribution to the England Women’s cricket team and we will miss her enormously.”

“It is impossible to put into words or measure the impact Tammy has had on our sport. She played her first few years as an amateur for England and is one of the few players to have enjoyed an international career through an incredible level of commitment, commitment and love for the game.

“The weight of the runs she has scored for England has placed her among the game’s great batsmen. I know how much it meant to Tammy to net three lions and help England to victory.

“She has always been connected to the grassroots of the game and why she took up football herself. In doing so, she has been a great role model and has always wanted to inspire the next generation. Tammy should be very proud of her outstanding international career and we wish her every success and happiness as she leaves the England locker room.”
