VAR produced one of the biggest moments in Premier League history as Arsenal beat West Ham 1-0 after Callum Wilson’s 95th-minute equalizer was ruled out for a foul on David Raya.
Leandro Trossard’s late winner set the Gunners on course for a decisive win in the Premier League title race, but with time almost over, Wilson fired home from a corner to send the London Stadium into a frenzy.
But VAR spotted West Ham’s Pablo’s arm across Raya’s neck as the Arsenal goalkeeper fumbled a first-time delivery into the box. Referee Chris Kavanagh was sent to monitors and disallowed the goal.
Sky Sports’ Gary Neville said: “I think it was a foul.” “He’s holding on to Raya. It’s the biggest moment in Premier League VAR history.”
Had it stood, Wilson’s goal would have reduced Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to three points. And Manchester City could have returned to first place with a win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports.
But instead, Arsenal lead the table with five points. With Burnley relegated at home and a final visit to Crystal Palace of the season remaining, Arsenal have taken a huge step towards winning their first Premier League title in 22 years.
Meanwhile, West Ham remain in the relegation zone and Tottenham can go four points clear with a win over safe Leeds. Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

Why Arteta’s strange substitution almost cost Arsenal
It was a difficult afternoon for Arsenal for 83 minutes. It was mostly due to the actions of Mikel Arteta. After a dominant start with Trossard hitting the bar twice in the same corner, Riccardo Calafiori went close. After Ben White suffered an injury, everything was in danger of unraveling.
Arteta brought in Martin Zubimendi and moved Declan Rice to right-back. But with West Ham in the game, Arteta reversed his decision at half-time, bringing on Christian Mosquera and bringing Rice back into midfield.
Arteta then pulled off Zuvimendi in another U-turn midway through the second half, which gave West Ham even more confidence.
A chaotic display almost led to West Ham’s opener when Fernandes scored in the West Ham area, despite Arsenal having more shots on goal. Raya showed off his incredible close-range stopping ability, but that wasn’t even his last big move in the game.
Arsenal have found a way to achieve their highest Premier League points tally for 22 years. A great interaction with Martin Odegaard saw him enter the penalty area and tee up Trossard, who was curled up at the near post. Arsenal’s away end became raucous as Arteta raced down West Ham’s touchline.
But there will be more dramas in the future. West Ham’s corner was fired by Raya and Wilson smashed home the loose ball. The goal was then ruled out. But the story of this game is not over.
