Are you wondering what Dorkfest is? This is a great event created by our friend Brett Snyder (aka Cranky Flier) where a bunch of AvGeeks can gather at the In-N-Out at LAX to watch planes, eat food, win airport/airline prizes, and be around a lot of people. Does this sound like fun? Here are the details:

Registration is not required for the main shindig, but if you would like to enter a drawing to win cool aviation-themed prizes or participate in the LAX ramp tour, you will need to pre-register. To learn more about Dorkfest or to sign up for add-ons (RSVP not yet open at time of publishing), go to the main Dorkfest page.

But wait… there’s more! If you’re planning on going to LA for Dorkfest, consider attending #SpotLAX2026! Another great aviation event taking place on the rooftop of the H Hotel Los Angeles overlooking LAX. Here are the details:
- What: #SpotLAX2026
- When: Friday, September 18th, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Location: H Hotel Los Angeles H Overlook
- Cost: $25 per person (tickets go on sale July 18)

There will be great prizes for purchase as well as food and drinks. Tickets go on sale July 18th, so make sure to mark your calendar. For more information and to receive H Hotel discounts, visit the #SpotLAX2026 page.

I’ve attended several times and I think the people are what makes both of these events special, even though the planes are great! I’m planning to go again this year, so if you see me, be sure to say ‘hello’ and talk about airplanes for a while.
