When you look at the ground of the China Eastern Airlines A330, you feel like you can reach out and touch it!

Are you wondering what Dorkfest is? This is a great event created by our friend Brett Snyder (aka Cranky Flier) where a bunch of AvGeeks can gather at the In-N-Out at LAX to watch planes, eat food, win airport/airline prizes, and be around a lot of people. Does this sound like fun? Here are the details:

Registration is not required for the main shindig, but if you would like to enter a drawing to win cool aviation-themed prizes or participate in the LAX ramp tour, you will need to pre-register. To learn more about Dorkfest or to sign up for add-ons (RSVP not yet open at time of publishing), go to the main Dorkfest page.

Watch airplanes at H Observatory

AvGeeks flock of planes captured as the sun sets

Watching the FedEx MD-11 land while dining at Proud Bird Restaurant

I’ve attended several times and I think the people are what makes both of these events special, even though the planes are great! I’m planning to go again this year, so if you see me, be sure to say ‘hello’ and talk about airplanes for a while.
